Insurance for continued operation of wind energy plants has so far been difficult to provide: After the planned lifetime, many insurers refuse insurance because there is a risk of unplanned outages. As a result, operators were often left without protection for machine breakage or business interruption.

New cooperation product from 8.2 and HDI Global

The 8.2 Group and HDI Global have developed an innovative cooperation product that fills this gap — especially for Enercon plants that continue to operate. The basis is a continued operation report prepared by 8.2 in combination with an independent analysis of the vibration data from the main warehouses using a condition monitoring system. On this basis, HDI Global accepts the remaining risk and, in addition to classic comprehensive insurance, also offers machinery breakage and business interruption insurance for systems after 20 years.

For operators, this means: higher plant availability and planning security during continued operation. Damages identified at an early stage, well-founded technical assessments and integration into an insurance package reduce downtime, secure income and make continued economic use of Enercon systems more attractive.
